Full Throttle Range
Using your Wisper bike on throttle only will reduce your range by up to 30% and the TTP will not help increase range whilst you are using the throttle only. If your bike has been upgraded so it works on the throttle only, we still suggest pedalling when you are able to do so. Use the throttle only function when you need to rest or to help you pull away when setting off.

Legal Notice: E-Bike and E-Scooter Use in the UK
We appreciate you considering purchasing an e-bike or e-scooter from Swift Ebike Hub. It is important to be aware of the legal requirements in the UK to ensure both safety and compliance with the law.
E-Bikes (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles, or EAPCs)
Key Legal Points:
Classification as an EAPC:
- The bike must have pedals that can be used to propel it.
- The motor must not exceed a maximum power output of 250 watts.
- The motor should not provide assistance once the bike reaches 15.5 mph (25 km/h).
Riding Requirements:
- Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- No license, insurance, or vehicle tax is required.
Where You Can Ride:
- EAPCs are permitted on cycle paths, and any area where regular bicycles are allowed.
- They cannot be used on pavements or pedestrian-only zones.
EAPC Identification:
Your e-bike must display either the manufacturer's name and power output or a sticker showing compliance with EAPC regulations.
E-Scooters
Key Legal Points:
Privately Owned E-Scooters:
- It is illegal to use privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes, or pedestrian areas.
- They may only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
Rental E-Scooters:
The UK government is running e-scooter rental trials in select locations.
- Riders must: Be at least 16 years old.
- Hold a provisional driving licence.
- Follow local regulations on where e-scooters can be ridden (typically cycle lanes and roads).
- Rental e-scooters are insured by the operator.
Helmets and Safety:
- While wearing a helmet is recommended, it is not a legal requirement.
- Riders must adhere to local speed limits and safety guidelines.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
Using a privately owned e-scooter in restricted areas or riding an e-bike that does not meet EAPC standards may result in:
- Fixed penalty notices.
- Points added to your driving licence.
- Fines for operating an uninsured or unlicensed vehicle.
